Cauris Investissement, first generation of investment funds

Cauris Investissement was established in 1995 on the initiative of BOAD (the West Africa Development Bank) and European DFIs as pilot fund to develop risk capital within the eight states member of the West Africa Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU): Benin, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal and Togo. After some initial difficulties, the fund has experienced a successful restructuring. It is now fully divested, with a 2.5 times net return to investors.
